Why you should support Camp Luther?
One of my favorite memories was from this summer. For reference, I was a camper from 2014-2017, and had the joy of serving on summer staff for the first time this past summer in 2025. I have been so incredibly blessed by Camp Luther. A particular Saturday comes to mind, our summer staff was all spending time together on the weekend when we started to share about our experiences at Camp Luther as campers. We started to go through old photo albums, and I discovered that I went to Camp Luther at the same exact time as campers as some of the staff that I was now working with, and had grown so close to. We shared the pictures of us standing feet away from each other as kids, and yet we had absolutely no clue. We quite literally were jumping up and down with excitement when we learned this. It was so incredible to see the Lord's faithfulness and how He worked to bring us all to serve this summer. This was such an incredible way to see how Camp Luther builds lasting relationships. When you serve on staff at Camp Luther, you grow so close with the other staff you serve with; you're not just coworkers, you find your life-long friends.
One of my favorite memories with campers was when I had a small cabin of 7 girls, and it took them a little while to get adjusted and find community in the cabin. They were all feeling a little homesick at the beginning of the week. However, the progress they made by the end of the week, how close they were as a cabin was absolutely incredible to watch. They went from shy campers they first day to taking all the fun pictures with each other the very last day. How these girls took care of each other, helped each other out whenever they could was truly amazing. One of the girl's parents got a little choked up with how proud she was of her daughter for being able to attend camp and that she had such a wonderful experience. I didn't learn this until later, but it was so amazing to see these girls grow so close to each other in the span of a week.
One more memory I have from camp actually is from when I was a camper. I remember we had campfire in the actual outpost field, but for whatever reason, the counselors could not get the fire started. (I knew these same struggles now this summer as a counselor). They had literally tried everything in the book. And then we prayed to start campfire, I don't know if this was intentional in the counselors side of things, but as soon as we finished the prayer, the fire ignited and it was roaring. The relief on the counselors' faces was truly incredible. And that was when I really saw the power of prayer and that you really only need a spark to get a fire going, not only with fires themselves, but also with faith. It was a beautiful moment and one of my fondest memories as a camper! I got to see this fire ignite in myself again this night and also countless campers this summer serving on staff.
Why Camp Luther needs ongoing prayers, support, and encouragement:
- Camp Luther has had an incredible impact on thousands of kids, hundreds of summer staff, and so many other supporters and everyone who can experience the joys of camp. Camp Luther is such an incredible ministry where you get to be intentional with your campers, staff, and everyone you interact with. You get to see that fire from the Holy Spirit ignite in the kids as they experience a week at camp, and even the opportunity to be a small part of that impact, whether you had a direct impact from serving on staff, letting God do His work by lifting up Camp Luther in prayer, or even sending a staff member a little encouragement along during the summer. Camp Luther is growing immensely, it's truly incredible to see how much changed from the time I was a camper to a summer staff member and I can't wait to see how it continues to grow this year and for many years in the future. The Lord is working so many beautiful things out of Camp Luther in the past, right now, and for years to come. I pray that you would consider praying, supporting, and encouraging the amazing mission of Camp Luther. I can't wait to continue to see how Camp Luther continues to impact so many campers and adults alike in the years to come.
